Scarborough LSP Emissions Working Group Short Journey Survey

Introduction

The Emissions Working Group of the Local Strategic Partnership is looking at ways in which we can reduce our community’s emissions of greenhouse gases. One of the ways this could be done would be to use our cars less for short journeys. But, so that we can tell if we’ve succeeded in doing this, we need to have some idea of how people in the Borough are getting around at the moment.

So, whilst its obvious that we’d prefer it if people walked, cycled or took the bus we do need to get an accurate picture of what’s going on now. Hence, we strongly encourage you to be as honest as possible in your answers to this questionnaire.

Guidance

a) Most journeys we make are return journeys. However, for the sake of this survey we’d like you to treat a return journey as two one way trips. E.g. If you walk ½ a mile into town, and then come back again, you’d put this down as two ½ mile trips.

b) We’d like you to report on the journeys you remember making in the week prior to filling in the questionnaire.
